About Me
The process of therapy is all about change and fulfilling one’s ultimate potential and purpose. My role as a counselor is to assist in the process of self-change and personal growth. Change can be scary and uncomfortable but is a natural part of the human experience and something that I attempt to make more comfortable in my counseling practice. In my practice I utilize a wide-range of evidenced based practices to assist patients with multiple presenting problems relating to depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse and alcohol concerns and additional mood disorders.
I am extensively trained in motivational interviewing and have vast experience utilizing CBT, DBT and REBT to address a wide variety of presenting concerns. I also specialize in existential therapy techniques to assist individuals further with understanding their being in the world and additional existential concerns relating to finding a sense of meaning and purpose and confronting the finality of their existence.
I have been a licensed counselor for almost 10 years and completed my graduate work at the University at Albany. I have worked in a variety of settings such as community mental health clinics, primary care offices, psychiatric hospitals, managed care providers and private practice settings. These varied experiences have provided me with meaningful experience that has helped me to help the clients I work with. I strive to create a non-judgemental, warm, open and trusting environment to assist clients with the process of working toward their own unique goals. I aim to assist clients to be able to come to their own conclusions and answers through exploring different perspectives and implementing creative interventions.
In my free time outside of counseling I am an avid golfer and a Formula One fan. I enjoy time spent with my wife, our two cats and our dog, Tula, who believes she is an excellent 82lb lap dog. If you choose to work with me I always say that our sessions might have the occasional guest of our beloved pets who enjoy spreading comfort and humor through the screen.
